Chronic kidney disease in Ecuador is listed as a catastrophic disease and constitutes a true public health problem. Their care generates an annual cost of nearly 650 million US dollars, which has led to real economic difficulties in access to drugs and coverage1,2.
The National Institute for Organ, Tissue and Cell Donation and Transplantation (INDOT) is an entity attached to the Ministry of Public Health, responsible for the regulation, coordination, control, promotion, survival and evaluation of transplantological activity in the country.
