Abstract

Primary breast lymphoma is considered a rare disease with an incidence of less than 1% of all malignant breast neoplasms and represents less than 2% of non-Hodgkin lymphomas. Its initial clinical presentation may resemble benign features such as a painless, symmetrical, mobile mass, with subsequent worsening of the condition and rapid progression. Imaging diagnosis can be confusing with presentation of malignant and benign features. Surgery does not play a fundamental role in the treatment as in other breast cancers. Its late recognition and treatment make its results unfavorable. In this context the following case is described. A young woman with HIV on treatment and control of her disease with antiretroviral therapy, adequate CD4 count. Diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma, she presents with multiple admissions due to superinfection, failure of third line chemotherapy and palliative radiotherapy with disease progression until dead.
