LatAm-FINGERS (Latin American version of the Finnish Geriatric Intervention Study to Prevent Cognitive Impairment and Disability) is a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, collaborative study that adapts the successful FINGER trial model to prevent cognitive decline and dementia through lifestyle interventions based on its 5 pillars: cognitive stimulation, diet, socialization, vascular risk factor control, and physical activity. Its main objective was to demonstrate the feasibility of conducting the study in the 12 participating Latin American countries, with diverse sociocultural and economic contexts, harmonizing the study with the FINGERS model (Finland) and the US Pointer model (part of the World Wide Fingers network in the United States).
